Myofascial Release Therapy & Restorative Massage

The body is a reservoir for memories and unprocessed emotions.

What we hold in our flesh and especially in the areas where we carry the most tension, is a well of information that can be used to support holistic healing. Disguised as restrictive tissue, these zones of knowledge are often the result of physical tension being reinforced by emotional tension, and vice versa.

Tissue restrictions stem from trauma, surgery, inflammatory responses, and poor habitual posture. To therapeutically address these regions, I use Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR).

MFR is a technique that combines superficial and deep tissue manipulation. The practice is highly regarded for its ability to reach maladaptive root impressions in the flesh and does so while tending to a person’s structural alignment. In a slow, gradual manner, MFR releases restrictions programmed by unconscious bracing patterns. Bracing patterns are a response to an original trauma — emotional and physical — that happen involuntarily. Over time, the physical bracing locks in emotional content, inhibiting our ability to disrupt physical patterns of distress.

In addition to therapeutic treatment using MFR, I provide restorative-based massages for clients looking to relax and reduce stress.

Every session begins with a brief check-in to assess your body’s condition and determine your intention for the session.

In a study examining the relationship between Major Depressive Disorder and the Myofascial network, Michalak et al. (2022) concluded that there is indeed a correlation between restrictive tissue and MDD. Individuals with MDD have a higher count of restrictions in their myofascial network."
